At ISEC 2008, a solvent extraction course will be taught by the world’s leading experts. As seen in the outline below, the topics covered include applications to Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, and Chemicals Manufacturing, as well as Hydrometallurgical and Nuclear Processing.
Beginning with fundamentals of chemistry, solvent selection, two-phase fluid dynamics, and mass transfer models, the course covers the design and operation of extraction equipment from mixer-settlers to many column configurations and centrifugal contactors. Commercial practice, processing difficulties, and troubleshooting are discussed.
This course is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear some of the leading experts discuss aspects of solvent extraction. Each of the four sessions will be four hours in length, and each speaker will have 50 minutes unless noted. There will be one 30 break after two hours of lecture.
